Voluntary Annual Report is First As part of its overall efforts to promote transparency for stockholders and others, General Motors Corporation is releasing its first, voluntary disclosure of corporate contributions for the calendar year to section 527 organizations and individual candidates for state and local office. GM will provide this disclosure on an annual basis around the end of each calendar year or the start of the new year. The amount and recipients of these corporate contributions for 2007 can be found on GM’s website at: http://www.gm.com/corporate/ investor_information/corp_gov/This site also provides a copy of GM's Policy on Corporate Political Contributions and Expenditures as well as a link to the FEC website which details employee contributions to the federal GM Political Action Committee (PAC) and the GM PAC’s contributions to candidates, party committees and other PACs. GM’s voluntary disclosure represents every effort and intention by the automaker to fully report all such contributions. However, given the scope and size of GM’s operations and the variety of contribution channels, some contributions could be inadvertently omitted from this initial disclosure. If GM is made aware of additional contributions through its own review process, employees or by other means and sources outside the company, it will immediately disclose those contributions.

Knoll Gas Nitro Jam can be seen in close to 50 countries across the globe
(NORWALK, OHIO Dec. 17, 2007) IHRA and the Knoll Gas Nitro Jam have grown in popularity over the last few years. Now the sanctioning body’s reach will be as broad as ever.
From Northern Europe to the Philippines…Algeria to Uzbekistan the Knoll Gas Nitro Jam is receiving more worldwide exposure than ever before. IHRA’s television program, which is broadcast on SPEED across North America, will be seen on television in almost 50 countries all over the world.
“We’re very excited to bring Nitro Jam to fans across the globe,” Michael Prince, Vice President for Live Nation-Motor Sports who is spearheading this project, said of the worldwide television exposure. “The increased exposure for racers and sponsors in the Knoll Gas Nitro Jam is a valuable added bonus. This is also a great opportunity to increase the awareness of IHRA and the Knoll Gas Nitro Jam on many, many levels.”
IHRA President Aaron Polburn is excited about the increased international exposure.
“This is an amazing deal and I really tip my cap to Michael Prince for putting this together,” IHRA president Aaron Polburn said. “We have great racers, great personalities with great stories to tell. I look forward to seeing the response to our brand of drag racing from all over the world. With our commitment to drag racing in the United States and Canada, also in Aruba where we have a member track and Puerto Rico, you really realize how ‘international’ the International Hot Rod Association actually is.”

Thompson Raceway Park Signs with IHRA for Three Years |

Historic Track East of Cleveland Joins IHRA Family of Member Tracks
(NORWALK, OHIO—December 14, 2007) If you grew up in the Cleveland area you are all too familiar with the radio commercials. The song “Fire on High” from the Electric Light Orchestra probably saw more airtime on Cleveland’s progressive FM radio stations in Thompson Drag Raceway radio spots than in regular rotation on the stations’ play lists. With a young Aaron Polburn handling track promotion, Thompson Drag Raceway was the place to be as the Carter Administration wore down and “The Gipper” was poised to take the helm of the nation.
Thompson was one of the first drag strips in the country, built in 1958. It has been through three different ownership groups in its history but one thing has remained a constant…from the days of muscle cars in the late 50’s through the ‘60’s, through the heyday of drag racing on a national level in the 1970’s until today cars have been going down the track at Thompson.
In 2004 the track was renamed Thompson Raceway Park, but a new name did not detract from the tradition of excellence at the facility. The track has undergone extensive renovations over the last 18 years and is in the best shape in its history. Thompson has always had a strong commitment to its local racers and, for this reason, has decided to come back to the sanctioning body under which it thrived throughout much of its history…the International Hot Rod Association. Track owner Ken Edgar Jr. signed a three-year agreement Thursday, Dec. 13 to rejoin IHRA’s family of member tracks, leaving behind the NHRA after four years under its sanction.
“Ohio is IHRA Country and this was a decision we left up to our racers,” Track operator Jim Curtis said. “We sent a letter out to them to ask them to vote on the future of Thompson Raceway Park and it was unanimous, they all wanted to come back to IHRA and we’re thrilled with their decision. IHRA just seems like home for us. The benefits of IHRA sanction are endless and I can’t wait for 2008 to start.”
Curtis, who has been involved at Thompson for over 18 seasons, left the decision up to his racers. But that does not mean he did not make his opinion known.
“I really pushed hard to get this deal done,” he said. “It was my passion to get Thompson Raceway Park back with IHRA. So by popular demand we got the deal put together with Aaron.”
Polburn is excited the track where he spent much of his career as a promoter is back in the IHRA fold.
“I have a soft spot for Thompson because I have so many great memories there,” he said. “It’s a great track with hard-core loyal racers in a tremendous market. The future is very bright at Thompson and we look forward to working with Jim Curtis to give his racers what they expect from IHRA…a strong commitment to local drag racing, outstanding special programs and support from a sanctioning body that truly cares about each and every one of its member tracks. 2008 is going to be a great year at Thompson with it’s 50th Anniversary celebration, the Summit SuperSeries and a full schedule of racing action all summer.”

Stops at Darlington and Carolina Dragway also on tap for Heat Wave participants
The 2008 racing season for Division 2 Heat Wave will begin at Ralph Hester’s Immokalee Regional Raceway and be highlighted by the first-ever triple race weekend. The first Sportsman National event, a new concept for added value to all Pro-Am participants hoping to shoot for a world championship, will take place Feb. 7-10. Thursday will be a test and tune day from noon to 10 pm. Friday the gates will open at 8 am and two time trial sessions are scheduled before competitors head straight into eliminations. Saturday gates will open at 8 am for one scheduled one time trial, followed by the second Pro-Am event. Immediately following the second Pro-Am will be a racer’s coming out party and Hester’s famous South Florida Stock Suspension race. Sunday there will be one time trial given before competitors head right into eliminations for the sportsman national event.
“I always look forward to the weekend in Immokalee,” IHRA Division 2 director Frank Kohutek said. “Ralph does such a great job making the weekend a party. Everyone races hard during the day and then unwinds at night. He is such a gracious host, and South Florida in February is incredible. They have the Seminole Casino nearby and plenty of things to do. It’s like a vacation with some racing thrown in for good measure.”
The second stop of the Heat Wave division will be Darlington Dragway Aug. 29-31. Friday will be a test and tune, Saturday will be the first of two Summit Pro Ams with two time trials and qualifying sessions with eliminations immediately following and Sunday going directly into eliminations around noon
“Bill Wilson and his crew did an outstanding job last season with their 2007 Summit Pro-Am event,” Kohutek said. “Racers came out of the woodwork to participate and created the largest car count in 2007 for the Division 2 Heat Wave. We expect another great weekend this year.”
The third and final stop will be at the “House of Hook,” Carolina Dragway.
“Nothing can be said that hasn’t already been said about Jeff and Angel Miles and their staff,” Kohutek said. “Not only are they track owners but also avid racers that know what racers want. They always provide a facility and race track that is second to none.”
Friday will be a test n tune day, Saturday two time trials will be given before eliminations start for the Summit Pro-Am tour. As a bonus the always spectacular Thunder Jam will be included in the evening. Sunday, there will only be one time trial with eliminations immediately following the time trial session.

VIGOROUS PHYSICAL THERAPY PAYING DIVIDENDS FOR FORCE |
| Posted by Editor - 12-12-07 22:44 - 0 comments |

14-Time Champion On Target for Pre-Season Testing YORBA LINDA, Calif. – The lengthy physical therapy sessions he is undergoing five days each week are beginning to pay big dividends for drag racing icon John Force as he tries to recover from injuries suffered in a Sept. 23 crash at the Texas Motorplex. That was the assessment Wednesday of physical therapist Robert Ortmayer, who has been working with Force since the 14-time NHRA Funny Car Champion returned to his California home after 27 days in a Texas hospital. The 58-year-old Force, whose goal is to be back in a Castrol GTX High Mileage Ford Funny Car when pre-season testing begins in mid-January, was cleared Tuesday to commence light strength training with the left hand and left foot. He already had been involved in strength work on the less severely injured right foot and hand. In the crash, the worst of his career, the 125-time tour winner suffered a compound fracture of the left ankle, a dislocation of the left wrist so bad that it required the insertion of pins and application of a hard cast, broken bones in the right foot and hand, a severe laceration of the right knee with ligament and tendon damage and mangled fingers and toes involving significant tissue loss. Even the worst break, that to a left ankle, has healed enough to support 50 per cent of its normal load. Strength and stamina now are the primary issues for the 14-time Auto Racing All-America selection who is just eight round wins shy of becoming the first driver to win 1,000 competitive rounds on the NHRA tour. “Attitude is everything in these types of recoveries,” Ortmayer said. “John is exceptional in that area. He has done everything we’ve asked. It’s been difficult, but he is one of the most motivated people with whom I have ever worked. Considering the severity of the accident and the injuries, his range of movement already is remarkable and he’s making more progress every day.” With an eye toward pre-season testing, Ortmayer toured the John Force Racing, Inc., shop facility Tuesday so that Force’s teammate, two-time POWERade Championship runner-up Robert Hight, could orient him to the cockpit of a Funny Car and explain what occurs during a typical quarter mile run. The owner of Yorba Linda Physical Therapy then met with the JFR crew chiefs and Ford representatives, including Ford Racing boss Dan Davis, for an update on changes to the 2008 cockpit and chassis that might present new physical challenges for the 1996 Driver of the Year.
